Fall Sport Registrations

Three things are needed in order to register your child for a sport, 1) An athletic medical record, signed by a doctor, a parent and the student 2) An emergency card and 3) the $30 athletic benefit fee plus the pay to participate fee. Pay to participate fees for EACH athlete are $150 for the first sport in that school year, $75 for the second sport in that school year and the third sport is free. Please write TWO SEPARATE checks for the athletic benefit fee and the pay to participate fees, made payable to Pioneer High School.

All forms are available here on our website, just download and print, or you can get them in them in the athletic office between 7:30-4:00 weekdays. Only ONE sports physical is needed for the whole school year, but you will need an emergency card for EACH sport that the athlete participates in.  These forms travel with the coach and need to be updated each season.

We accept sports registrations Monday through Friday, 7:30-4:00 all summer/year long.

Congratulations Men's Baseball!

Congratulations to the Pioneer High School Men's Baseball Team, as they were able to bring home a state title for the first time since 2004.  Coach Jerry Holley and his staff were very pleased with the performance over the weekend.  On Friday night the Pioneers beat L'Anse Cruise 12-2 in the semi final game.  This lead to a state championship with neighboring Saline at 6pm on Saturday night.  The Pioneers again prevailed with a 4-1 victory over Saline!  Congratulations to Coach Jerry Holley, his staff and all the players of the 2010 pioneer men's baseball team, well done gentlemen!

Congratulations Women's Tennis

Congratulations to the Pioneer High School Women's 2010 Tennis Team, as they have brought yet another STATE title.  Coach Tom Pullen and his players are pleased with the performance and very excited to share the news with everyone.  Hard work and a lot of team effort made this season a success.

Message from the Athletic Director:
Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the interscholastic athletic program at Pioneer High School. Involvement in athletics and other extracurricular activities is a valuable experience. I am glad that you and your family have decided to participate.

Please take the time to read the enclosed materials. They contain information important for student-athletes and their parents to know and understand about the operation of the Pioneer athletic program. This information can directly affect student-athletes' ability to participate in athletics at Pioneer.

Being a part of the athletic program can be time consuming and take away from your studies, social or other activities. It is important to be diligent in your work and practice to become successful, both academically and athletically. Academics are of the utmost importance. Many students find that participation in athletics motivates them and helps them focus on their studies. Last year, the overall grade point average for all athletes was 3.23, a demonstration of the outstanding commitment students; teachers, parents, and administrators have made to academics and athletics.

As a student-athlete, you will be a role model, a leader, a team member, and a supporter. Others might try to divert your attention away from the goals you have set. Remain true to yourself. Exhibiting good sportsmanship and citizenship, being drug free, staying in school, teamwork, and self-discipline are traditions at Pioneer. Help keep this tradition strong. I look forward to seeing you play and support the tradition of Pioneer High School, a tradition of excellence. Best wishes for a successful academic and athletic year.

Cordially,
Lorin Cartwright
Athletic Director
